Is this course for you?

This six week Tuesday evening sewing course is for those who wish to improve and practice their sewing skills. Please note this course will not suit absolute beginners (check out our beginners sewing course page to see upcoming dates). Basic sewing skills are required to do this Improvers course; this would mean that you are familiar with threading a machine and winding a bobbin, threading a needle, sewing very basic seams, backstitching and top stitching. If in doubt, or if you are just a bit rusty, give Lucy a call on 0852624131 to chat further. If you have completed the beginners sewing course with Refashioned, you are ideally suited to attend this follow on course.

Modern, easy to use Brother LS14S sewing machines are provided, or you may also bring your own machine if you wish* (¨There is a €10 discount for those bringing their own machines. Note the two ticket options when booking and select the one that suits you. If you opt to bring your own machine, one will not be provided for you.)

The course is focused on supporting each attendee's individual sewing journey, as well as introducing intermediate sewing techniques. In addition to learning new skills such as working with elastic, bias binding, invisible zips, advanced seam and hem techniques, overlocking and more challenging fabrics, you will have time to practice your new skills by working on your own home textile or fashion sewing projects. You will get full support from the tutor on your work, including follow-up notes, tutorials and resources to help you build your knowledge.

Do something creative in 2024, upcycle your wardrobe, learn to make your own clothes or cushion covers, or just learn new skills. The course takes place in the wonderful Fairgreen resource centre in Tinahely, a home from home atmosphere with a log fire, toilets, free parking and tea and coffee provided.

*If bringing your own sewing machine, you must make sure it is in good working condition and safe to use, with the necessary accessories such as bobbins, presser feet etc.
